The Del McCoury Band is the most awarded bluegrass band of all time and in Sept 2011 (days from Bill Monroe’s 100th birthday) he was inducted into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame at the “The Mother of Country Music” The Ryman Auditorium. The band has won a total of thirty-one International Bluegrass Music Association Awards, including Entertainer Of The Year nine times. In 2006, The Del McCoury Band won the Grammy award for Best Bluegrass Album Of The Year for the CD titled “The Company We Keep”. The Del McCoury Band continues to cross genres and in 2011 released a crossover CD with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band titled “American Legacies”. In 2012, The Del McCoury Band released “Old Memories, The Songs of Bill Monroe” featuring some of his favorites songs performed during his tenure with Bill Monroe and Bluegrass Boys. This year Del was awarded his second Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album Of The Year for his CD, “Streets of Baltimore.”
Del, Ronnie and Rob will do a workshop on Friday, April 11 from 8-8:45 pm called “Del @ 75.” Their full band performance is Saturday.
